Bastogne
a thinker of sorts ; can you out think him?
a thinker of sorts ; can you out think him?
Cold, hitting upon one's pelt as harsh as needles. Try to run away from it, try to keep yourself away from the harsh pain. Not this steed. He came into the land, facing the terrorizing cold with bravery and grace. His pillars moved forward, eating the ground as he advanced. Tearing at the hardened loam as the cold continued to attack his bod. Freezing winds blew, howling as they drifted past him. His snorts added smoke to the atmosphere. Steam, more or less, as his warmth entered the air above.
A shadow among the purity, among the white innocence. In this land, little flakes of snow had not yet graced it. Though, he was one hundred percent sure the fallings would occur shortly. His hinds pulled him up in the terrain set for many, all to come to meet. Or, so the land seemed to be. If he were in the mood, he would have taken the time to look about, see if others were first in the land and join them. However, he had no time for that today. No. Not in his eyes. He would be here to explore, and if any others came to him, there would be a chattering followed up by...whatever would happen. He had no right to change destiny, although, at times, he would have a go. A sad attempt to change what could not be. Like his life.
"Here, alone in a terrain with a large tree."
From his distance, he attempted to examine the abnormally large tree. It could be a shelter for horses, or a safe place for them to talk and greet. Perhaps some would go there to make plans without knowing it.

Gone were the days when peace and love thrived. Gone were the days of his friendship, his knowledge benefiting his stallion comrade. There had been, there was one memory he loved to hang onto. One with the days of winter, that captivated him and nearly sent him to his death. The steed was young, only two years at the time, and had gone out with his friend to explore. They came upon a cavern, wide open and able to fit many horses into it. The wind hissed and bit the two colts as it moved forward. His friend had approached the cavern first, believing they could rest there for the night. At the time, he had agreed. However, as soon as his fores touched the mouth of the cavern, he knew something was horribly wrong.
A stallion, two, were attempting to round up all of the horses who had stumbled into the cavern. It seemed to only be a meeting place..the two colts did not understand...However, the small size, and the confined quarters, made it easy for the two stallions to overtake the band. The colts had stumbled into the wrong area at the wrong time...

His scars were long gone now. Yet, he dare not enter the tree. His memories forbade it. Instead, the stallion faced the cold, staying around the tiny field which surrounded the tree. Or, could one say the tree surrounded the field? Large branches were spread out, letting all know the tree was this lands master.
Waiting was a horried thing. The steed was not sure what he was waiting for. A mare? Impossible. Another stallion? Perhaps. Or maybe, he was secretly waiting for his life to come to a screeching halt. Right then and there. Whatever worked for him. Whatever worked for the powers that be...
