The rain poured over head, cleansing the land of impurities. The drizzling
of water was worshipped by the sessile organisms known as trees. Their branches spread
outwards as if to catch every last ray of sun that it had to offer. Their trunks were well-rooted to
the soil, firmly holding them in place even in the most brutal of storms. The baby green leaves
that grew on the ends of their branches glimmered in the light drizzle as the sun hung over the
land like an ancient protector. Day in and Day out this place had felt no presence of a conquer
approaching. Instead the life forms just relaxed easily in the spring breeze, enjoying what life
had to offer. It was just another perfect day to them. Or so it was until the earth beneath the
trees trembled with an unfamiliar sound. Even the birds who sang in the rain quieted as the
unusual rumble trickled through the air. The forest held it's breath. No one had dared approach
their terra for as long as the trees could remember. Timidly the birds sought out shelter in their
nest as the first ebony outlines of the creature became scene. Every creature sessile or not
knew what this being was as it paraded down the shelter of the trees. The four odd hooves struck the ground with a commanding touch as the testosterone filled being trespassed on their sacred ground.
The eyes of the forest watched the prime stallion slow his gait. Migratory birds whom had seen
species like him were taken in awe by his flashy colors. His form was distorted not only by
the mixture of shade and sunlight, but by his brilliant blue roan strips that ran vertically across
his body. Their jagged patterns were much like that of a zebra, but he is no zorse. No, this
crossbred stallion was fertile as ever with offspring to prove it; though he did not wish to ever
meet those unfortunate creatures. He was not their nurturer after all. No. They were just
mistakes. The only honor they would have to their name would be if they had sported a
flashy coat like their sire. Oh yes, that would be the only honor to their name; and it just like
that for this male. But today that would change. Erysichthon, or Ery, would show them his
true colors as a light leader. Perhaps maybe one of the greatest if he proved himself enough.
Pushing himself farther, he snorted. Halting beneath the most ancient of apple trees Ery
smirked. The beauty of this land would be good not only for him but the herd as well. Holding
his body with the stance of an alpha he neighed out to the living creatures of this land that
he would be their king and protector. He would be everything he ever dreamed of...
